Today, I find myself on the precipice of nostalgia and anticipation as I celebrate an extraordinary milestone—my tenth year as a French teacher! A decade filled with the exploration of language, shared curiosity, and the incomparable joy that springs from facilitating understanding.
I embarked on this journey a decade ago, brimming with passion for the French language and an unyielding desire to illuminate the minds of others with its beauty. Léacafé, with its mission to connect cultures and individuals through language, became my platform and a conduit for this passion.
My journey has been made unforgettable by the myriad of students I’ve been privileged to teach. From all corners of the globe, each carrying their own unique dreams and aspirations, you have profoundly enriched my life. To my long-time students who have been with me on this remarkable journey, your resilience and hunger for knowledge have been the driving force behind my dedication. Your progress, your triumphs, and even your struggles, have been my greatest reward. Merci beaucoup!
To the new students, I extend a warm bienvenue! I eagerly look forward to our journey together, to share with you the richness of the French language, and to delve into the heart of its culture. Our classes will be more than learning conjugations and vocabulary; they will be an immersion into a world filled with the artistry of language and the delight of discovery.
To those contemplating the path of teaching, I offer you this: there is no calling more rewarding. The opportunity to shape minds, to ignite passion, and to facilitate understanding is an honor like no other. I encourage you to take the plunge. The world is brimming with individuals eager to learn, and you could be the guiding light they need.
To my fellow teachers who, like me, have chosen this noble path, I say, persevere. Our journey is not without its challenges. There will be days when the technology seems like a formidable adversary or when lesson plans go awry. But let these moments not discourage you, but rather, serve as catalysts for growth. Our commitment and resilience are the mortar that holds the foundation of education together.

I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on the past decade. Gratitude for Italki, the platform where I made my debut as a teacher. Gratitude for my students, who have enriched my life in more ways than I could have imagined. And gratitude for my fellow educators, whose dedication and resilience continue to inspire me.
As I celebrate this milestone, I am reminded of a quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a famed French writer and aviator, “Your task is not to foresee the future, but to enable it.” As teachers, we are enabling the future, one lesson at a time. It’s a responsibility, but also a privilege.
